Use AI As Your Personal Tutor - Learn Any Skill With AI

Practice makes perfect...

Hello.

Welcome to one more edition of AI Growth Insights.

In this post, I want to show you how to become a better communicator using AI.

You see, since X is my main platform right now, most of my content is still in written-text.

But I realized that we also need to be an active voice within our niches, either through podcasts or videos.

When you only communicate through text, people don't trust your viewpoints as much as they would if they heard you or saw you.

There's something about human trust that's still based on hearing and seeing others talk, not just reading what they've written.

So with that in mind (and after the encouragement of some good creator friends) I started participating in some Spaces (which is similar to a live podcast) and getting my voice out there.

During these Spaces, I realized my communication skills were lacking, mainly because:

  • English isn't my first language.

  • Lack of practice

But thankfully, we now live in the age of AI... And I discovered how to use it as my personal communication tutor.

And that's what I want to show in this post.

PS: This post will mainly focus on improving speech and presentation skills, but the same process can be applied to enhance any skill, provided you find a similar tool and use a bit of creativity when needed.

Choose a Suitable AI Tool

I use a tool called Yoodli AI.

This tool uses AI to analyze your speech and provides an honest assessment of your performance. Highlighting your mistakes and improvemenet opoortunities.

It works the following way:

1. Upload a recording of your speech.

2. Have it analyze your performance

3. Take note of its highly personalized feedback and try to improve next time

Yoodli takes note of various attributes of your speech, such as conciseness, pacing, number of repetitions, and even the number of filler words used.

This way, you can get an accurate assessment of your skills and know where and how to improve.

I've been using it for a month already, and I noticed that my presentation skills are getting better and better.

But the tool itself is not the most important thing.

You can choose any tool to level up your skills as long as it allows you to follow the step-by-step below:

1. Practice

First, if you want to level up in any skill, you have to practice.

AI still haven't really changed this particular reality.

Now, here's how I practice giving speeches.

Most of you know that I create content following the voice-first content creation model.

So every time I create content, I take the recording and upload it to Yoodli for analysis.

This way, I can create content and practice my presentation skills at the exact same time.

So simply start talking and record yourself while doing so.

2. Analyze Performance

Once you've recorded yourself and uploaded the file to Yoodli (or any other tool you're using), it's important to take some time to review your performance.

The AI tool is designed to do the heavy lifting here. It should highlight your weak areas, identify current bottlenecks, and point out opportunities for improvement.

Ideally, all you need to do is read through its analysis, jot down some notes, and move on to the next step...

Here’s one example of Yoodli analyzing my speech performance.

3. Improve Based On Feedback

Now, the next step is to improve your speech based on the feedback from the AI tool.

After all, you can't truly get better unless you change your behavior and enhance it based on the personalized feedback you received previously.

4. Keep Track

Lastly, keep track of everything so that you know you are on the right path.

Ideally, the AI tool that you are using can keep track of the historical data of your performance.

This way you can see where you are improving, where you are downgrading, and, if need be, give some more attention to your weak spots.

Again, the key to improving any skill is to measure and improve consistently.

Take me as an example:

Admittedly, my first presentation was quite bad.

I was repeating myself a lot, speaking too quickly, and struggling to clearly convey my points. (And I have the data to confirm this xD).

However, after practicing everyday and having AI highlight my mistakes, I've seen clear evidence of my improvement over time.

You see, communication and presentation are arguably the most important skills in the world today. And any investment you make in developing them will pay you many times over.

Thankfully, we now live in the age of AI, so there are no more excuses for you to not be improving them.

So, how are you using AI to upskill and acquire new skills?
