Instantly Bookmarked: How I Craft Highly-Bookmarkable Content

My step-by-step to create Highly Bookmarkable Content

Hello.

Welcome to the first edition of the AI Growth Insights Newsletter.

In this newsletter, I'll show you how to become an AI-enhanced content creator, helping you build your personal brand with minimal effort.

I won't waste time with lengthy introductions, so let's dive right in.

In this edition, I'll share my strategy for creating content that consistently achieves skyhigh bookmark-to-like ratios.

As you can see from my posts above, I practically got this down to a formula.

And in case you don't know, highly bookmarkable content gets boosted by the current X algorithm.

This means that I consistently reach people far beyond my follower base and go viral.

But before I reveal my step-by-step process, it's important to understand one concept.

How To Change When Change Is Hard

You see, the other day I got an Eureka moment while reading a book...

The book was called "Switch - How To Change When Change Is Hard"

It was written by Dan and Chip Heath, two best-selling authors known for their work in the fields of behavioral psychology, decision-making, and communication.

One of the key points of this book is that the human mind has two sides:

  • The emotional side (which the authors compared to an elephant);

  • The rational side (compared to a human rider trying to guide the powerful elephant).

The Rider and the Elephant

The authors suggest that our emotional side is very powerful, yet unpredictable, much like a reckless elephant.

Fortunately, we can guide it with our conscious mind, the rider.

However, since the human rider is completely analytical, much like a computer program, it must have one thing to control the elephant - clarity.

He needs to know where it's going and EXACTLY how to get there.

If he’s overloaded with information, he will not act at all, and the Elephant will be the one in charge.

As the authors say: You need to script the critical moves.

Or else our minds will fall prey to overthinking and self-doubt.

So, the key to creating highly bookmarkable content is really being this source of clarity and guidance to the reader's analytical mind.

Remember that Information ≠ Action.

Your readers will only bookmark your content if they feel they will act on it

With the risk of sounding like a broken record, I will repeat myself: You need to script the critical moves.

Unfortunately, I see lots of people creating content in the exact opposite way.

They start rambling on and on and hope that the reader will get them.

That won't work. Your goal is to provide clear, concise instructions. Script the critical moves.

Scripting The Critical Moves

"But how do I script the critical moves?" You might ask yourself...

Simple, your goal is to make the reader think to himself: "This is easy, I'll keep this in mind next time I do XYZ."

Instead of feeling overwhelmed with information, the reader now has an easy, predictable path to follow.

No confusion, or ambiguity, and he practically won't have to think for himself.

He will simply follow your step-by-step and be done with it.

Create Easily Digestible Content

So, we've discussed how the key to creating highly bookmarkable content is to outline the critical moves and remove all ambiguity and doubt from the reader's mind.

After reading your post, the reader should know exactly what needs to be done to achieve their goals.

Here are a few ways to create this type of content:

1. Listicles: Listicles work well for getting highly bookmarked, particularly because readers feel like they will revisit it when they need to achieve a particular outcome.

2. Checklists: Checklists are my favorite. Once again, the reader feels like he can simply revisit the content when he needs it, check all of the boxes of the checklist, and the end goal will be achieved.

3. Step-by-step content: This works for a similar reason as the checklist. The reader feels a sense of certainty in being able to follow a step-by-step guide and achieve the end result.

So, to sum up, here's my personal checklist to create highly engaging content:

1) Identify a pain point or topic of interest for your audience.

2) Provide step-by-step instructions. Whether in the form of a checklist, listicle, or step-by-step how-to guide.

If you follow this approach, I can guarantee the bookmark-to-like ratio in your posts will skyrocket.

And you will get a lot more impressions as a result.
